Research on Piracy
As part of its wider global approach to counter piracy work, M&C Saatchi World Services (MCS WS) partnered with the Sir James Mancham International Centre for Peace Studies and Diplomacy in undertaking a research project interviewing incarcerated pirates at the Montagne Posée Prison in Seychelles.
MCS WS was responsible for the management and planning of the research and one of its Account Director (Researcher) came to Seychelles between 12th and 18th March 2017 to conduct the research. The research was done through a series of individual interviews and focus groups with the Somali prisoners under the security guidance of the Seychelles Prison Service. MCS WS supplied English language copies of the Focus Group Discussion Guide and Interview Guide. The interviews and focus groups were conducted in Somali.
MCS WS presented the research findings with the Centre and the Contact Group on Piracy off the Coast of Somalia (CGCPS). After all the information has been compiled and analysed, the final written report will be shared with all stakeholders and be formally presented at the CGCPS Plenary Session 2017.
